こちらは子犬を飼おうと思っている方への十戒です。
２通りで最初はオリジナル
次がオリジナルに私がアレンジしました。
1. Don't hurry. If getting a dog, any dog, right now, is your goal,
then you are not serious, and you will get what you ask for: just any dog.
決して急がないでください。もし犬を飼ったり、どんな犬でもそれがあなたのゴールなら。
あなたが真剣にならず、ただどんな犬でも・・・と思っただけで飼うなら
2. Read more than one book. Do not base your whole understanding on generic descriptions.
１冊以上の本を読んでください。
たった１冊の本を基本にしないでください。
あなたの理解は一般的な表現だけが全てではないのですから
3. Narrow your breed choice to only one or two.
If neither one works out, beginning research on a third will be easier.
あなたが１つか２つの犬種の選択をしていってください、
もしそれがしっくりこなかったら、三つ目を調べ始めてください・・・
そうすればもっと簡単なものになるでしょう。
4. Contact the national breed club. Basic information on the breed is usually free,
and in-depth resources are available for moderate sums.
A local club representative can often handle specific questions.
その犬種の協会に問い合わせてください。
基本的な犬種の情報は普通無料です・・そしてもうすこし深い知識も得られるでしょう。
地域のクラブでは特定の質問に答えてくれるでしょう。
5. Request names of club members you may visit, talk to and from whom you can learn.
訪問出来るクラブメンバーの名前をたずねてください。
実際会い、話してそこから色々なことを学ぶことが出来るでしょう。
6. Attend dog shows or performance events in which the breed participates.
あなたのほしい犬種が参加しているイベントやドッグショーに参加してみてください。
7. Be honest when you contact a breeder about who you are and your level of knowledge.
ブリーダーさんに連絡するときは、正直にあなたが誰なのか？
あなたの知識がどのくらいあるのか話してください。
8. Inform the breeder if you are ready to buy, have changed your mind or are still researching.
もしあなたがもらう（買う）準備ができていたり、気持ちが変わっていたり、
今も調べている最中だったら必ずブリーダーさんに情報を与えてあげてください。
9. Do not ask to be on the active list or expect special consideration
unless you are ready to put down a deposit.
あなたが手付け金をおく準備がなければ、リストに名前をのせてもらったり、
特別な考慮を期待させたりするのはやめてください。
10. If you are no longer interested, or have purchased a dog from someone else,
contact the breeder and remove your name from the waiting list.
もし興味がなくなっていたり、すでに他の誰かから犬を購入していたら、
ブリーダーさんにそのことを連絡してください。

アメリカでは、ペットショップで生体の販売は行っておらず、たいていはアニマルレスキューからアダプト（里親になる）したり、ブリーダーさんから直接買います。
そのため私なりに日本にあった１０戒を作ってみました。

「ペットショップであなたの心に訴えてきたから」と思っただけなら。
真剣ではなく、犬に関してやその犬種に関して調べていないのなら急がないでください、
2. Read more than one book, search about personal websites about the breed and dogs.
There are so many websites about dogs and various breeds. do not base that one 1 book or 1 websites. those are not whole understanding and knowledge about dogs and the breed.
all dog are different.... like us.
１冊以上の本を読んでください。その犬種や犬のＨＰをさがしてください。
色々な犬種や犬全般についてたくさんのHPがあるのですから。
たった１冊、たった１HPだけを基準にしないでください・・・
それは全ての犬、犬種についての知識や理解の全てではないのですから。
全ての犬は一つとして同じものはいません・・・・私たち人間のように。
3.Narrow your breed choice to 1 to 2. if neither one works out,
beginning research on a third or fourth will be better.
１つか２つの犬種に絞っても一つもしっくりこなかったら
３つめ４つ目の選択肢を調べ始めてください。
4. Research the breed and contact the breed club or someone's website.
please do not forget to ask what good points and bad points the breed.
その犬種についてしっかり調べてください、
そしてそれぞれの犬種のクラブやその犬種を飼っている
オーナーさんに連絡してみてください。
是非聞いてみてください。その犬種の良い点、悪い点。
5. Please ask yourself, why , when you want a dog how you keep the dog with you...
why you want the pure breed or mix.
You will be able to keep the dog rest of life???
you may have a baby... your family will be sick... so you must take care of your family first....
you may be moving so often.. the dog will be playful.. your dog will be obstinate....
どうかあなた自身に問いかけてください。なぜ？いつ？犬がほしいのか？
どうやってあなたがあなたの犬と一緒に暮らせるか？なぜ純血種なのか？ミックスなのか？
一生あなたはその犬と一緒に暮らせることができますか？
もしかしたら子供が出来るかもしれない、
ご家族が病気になってあなたはまずご家族の面倒をみなくてはいけなくなるかもしれない、
引越が多くなるかもしれない・・・
あなたの犬がとっても遊び好きかもしれない。ガンコかもしれない・・・・
6. Please tell the breeder if you are not ready,
you are not interested in, you already got a dog from someone else.
もし、まだ準備が出来てなかったり、もう興味がなくなっていたり、
すでに他の誰かから犬を手に入れていたら、ブリーダーさんに知らせてください。
7. Please ask everything you want to ask, hear, or just wonder.
不思議に思っていたり、聞いてみたいことや、
尋ねてみたい事は全て聞いてみてください
8. Please see parents dogs, and check how they sit,, inside of ear.. skin... heights.
Please ask to see parent dogs' pedigree
是非親犬を見てください。どうやってお座りしているか？
お耳の中は？皮膚は？体高はどのくらいか見てください
親犬の血統証をみせてもらえるか聞いてみてください。
9. Please do not give up to have her/him even if she/he has allergy or sickness
Many puppies appear many trouble/problem after 1 year old.
例えアレルギーや病気が出てきても、どうか子犬を飼うことをあきらめないでください
多くの子犬の病気などが症状として表れるのは１才たってからです
10. Please do not have a dog so easy thinking.... and do not let them adopt or leave a dog.
Every puppy is playful, cute, adorable.... They are alive... like US.
どうか思っただけで犬を飼わないでください。簡単に犬を放置したり里親に出したりしないでください。
全ての子犬は遊び好きで、かわいくて、かけがいのないものです・・・彼らは私達と同じ様に生きているんです。
